Exciting Launch: National Fisheries & Aquaculture Value Chain Database Capture Programme (NFAVCDP)

Endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and powered by the Fisheries Cooperative Federation of Nigeria (FCFN), with Oriri Global Resources (OGR) as the National Consultants, this landmark programme aims to build a comprehensive, reliable, and real-time national database that captures the entire fisheries and aquaculture value chain — from production, processing, and storage to distribution and marketing.

The NFAVCDP will provide accurate data on fish farmers, cooperatives, processors, traders, input suppliers, and other critical stakeholders across Nigeria. This initiative will enhance policy formulation, attract investment, improve food security, and support evidence-based decision-making in the blue economy.

Speaking on the launch, stakeholders highlighted that the programme will bridge long-existing data gaps that have hindered sector growth, promote transparency, and create new opportunities for smallholder fish farmers and cooperatives nationwide.

FCFN, as the implementing partner, brings vast grassroots reach, while Oriri Global Resources (OGR) will deploy cutting-edge data capture methodologies and technology to ensure the database is robust, secure, and accessible for planning and development purposes.

This strategic intervention aligns with the Federal Government’s vision to harness the enormous potential of the marine and blue economy for national prosperity, job creation, and sustainable development.

All fisheries cooperatives, aquaculture operators, and value chain actors are encouraged to actively participate as data collection commences across the country.
